Counselling

A space to understand, heal, and move forward.

Individualized counselling for adults in British Columbia

You don't have to wait until things feel unmanageable to seek support.

Maybe you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns you can't seem to change. Maybe you're struggling in your relationships, questioning yourself, or finding it difficult to communicate what you need. Or perhaps you've experienced something in the past that continues to affect how you feel, think, or relate to others.

Counselling offers a space to slow down, understand what's happening, and work toward meaningful change.

As a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), I provide individualized counselling for adults residing in British Columbia, with each person's experiences, needs, and goals guiding the work.

What Brings You Here?

There isn't one reason people seek counselling.

You might be functioning well on the outside while privately feeling exhausted, uncertain, lonely, or overwhelmed. You may have spent years adapting to other people's expectations and are now realizing that you want something different.

You may be looking for support with:

Anxiety & Overwhelm

Understanding anxiety, persistent worry, overthinking, stress, and emotional overwhelm so you can feel more grounded and capable in your everyday life.

Self-Esteem & Self-Trust

Developing a more secure sense of yourself, working through self-doubt, comparison, perfectionism, or harsh self-criticism.

People-Pleasing & Boundaries

Understanding the need to keep others happy, learning to recognize your own needs, and becoming more comfortable with saying no and setting boundaries.

Relationships

Working through challenges in romantic relationships, friendships, family relationships, or other important connections.

Emotional Regulation

Learning to recognize and respond to difficult emotions with greater awareness rather than becoming overwhelmed, shutting down, avoiding, or reacting automatically.

Identity & Belonging

Exploring questions of identity, belonging, values, and the different expectations you may experience across family, cultural, social, or professional environments.

Life Transitions

Finding your footing during periods of change, uncertainty, loss, relocation, relationship changes, career transitions, or other significant life events.

Healing From the Past

Making space to process difficult experiences and understand how they may continue to influence your emotions, relationships, and sense of self today.

Self-Awareness & Personal Growth

Developing a deeper understanding of your emotions, needs, values, and patterns so you can make more intentional choices about how you want to live and relate to others.

What Can Counselling Help You Develop?

Counselling isn't about becoming a completely different person.

It can be about developing more freedom in how you understand yourself and respond to your life.

Together, we may work toward:

Greater Self-Understanding

Recognizing your emotions, needs, values, and patterns with greater clarity.

Emotional Confidence

Becoming more comfortable experiencing difficult emotions without feeling controlled by them.

Healthier Relationships

Developing communication, boundaries, and relational patterns that feel more authentic and sustainable.

Greater Self-Trust

Learning to listen to yourself and make decisions that reflect your own needs and values.

A Stronger Sense of Self

Understanding who you are beyond expectations, roles, and the ways you've learned to adapt to others.

Meaningful Change

Turning insight into new ways of responding, communicating, and moving through your life.

How I Work

The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of counselling.

I believe meaningful counselling begins with a relationship where you feel heard, respected, supported, and understood.

You don't need to have everything figured out before you come to therapy. You don't need to know exactly what to say or have a clear explanation for what you're experiencing.

My role is to create a supportive, empathic, and non-judgmental space where we can explore your experiences together.

At the same time, I don't believe counselling is simply about listening or telling you what you want to hear.

When it feels helpful, I will gently challenge you to look at familiar patterns from a different perspective, notice what may be happening beneath the surface, and consider possibilities you may not have seen before.

The intention is never to judge or tell you who you should be.

It's to help you see yourself more clearly.

Self-Awareness Is the Foundation for Change

It's difficult to change something we don't yet understand.

Together, we may explore questions such as:

What am I feeling?

What do I need?

Why do I respond this way?

Where did I learn this pattern?

What am I afraid might happen if I respond differently?

Is this pattern still serving me?

Developing greater self-awareness can help you recognize the connection between your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, relationships, and experiences.

With greater understanding comes greater choice.

Instead of automatically responding in the ways you've always responded, you can begin to recognize what is happening and decide how you want to move forward.

Making Space for Emotional Healing

Insight is important, but understanding isn't always enough.

Sometimes healing requires the opportunity to feel, process, and make sense of experiences that have been difficult to carry.

Counselling can provide space to explore emotions that may have been pushed aside, experiences that haven't been fully processed, or parts of yourself that have been difficult to acknowledge.

We can work at a pace that feels manageable for you.

The goal isn't to force you to revisit things before you're ready. It's to create enough safety and support for difficult experiences to be approached with greater compassion and understanding.

Insight, Processing & Practical Tools

I believe counselling can hold both depth and practicality.

There may be times when the most important work is slowing down and understanding something you've experienced.

There may be other times when you need something practical that can help you navigate what is happening in your life right now.

Depending on your needs, our work may include developing tools and skills related to:

  • Emotional regulation

  • Managing anxiety and overwhelm

  • Communication

  • Boundaries

  • Self-awareness

  • Self-compassion

  • Relationship patterns

  • Coping with difficult emotions

  • Navigating challenging situations

  • Building healthier responses and habits

The purpose of these tools isn't simply to help you get through the next difficult moment.

It's to help you develop skills that can improve your quality of life and support you beyond the counselling room.

A Balance of Support & Gentle Challenge

I want counselling to feel like a place where you can be honest about what you're experiencing without fear of judgment.

And I also believe that growth sometimes requires us to look at ourselves honestly.

That may mean gently exploring a contradiction, questioning an assumption, noticing a pattern, or considering how your own responses may be contributing to a situation.

This is done with curiosity rather than criticism.

You know your life better than anyone else. My role isn't to take that knowledge away from you, but to help you develop a clearer understanding of yourself so you can make choices that feel more intentional and aligned.

Your Pace. Your Goals. Your Process.

There is no predetermined path that every client needs to follow.

Some people come to counselling wanting to understand something that has happened in the past. Others are primarily focused on a challenge they're facing right now.

Some want deeper emotional processing. Others want practical strategies and skills. Often, meaningful counselling involves both.

We'll continually consider what is most useful for you and where your energy needs to go.

The goal isn't simply to help you cope with life as it is.

It's to help you understand yourself more deeply, heal where healing is needed, develop the tools you need, and create greater freedom in how you move through your life and relationships.

What to Expect

01 — Start With a Conversation

We'll begin by talking about what brings you to counselling, what you're hoping for, and whether working together feels like the right fit.

02 — Understand What's Happening

We'll explore the experiences, emotions, thoughts, and patterns connected to what you're experiencing.

03 — Identify What You Want to Change

Together, we'll clarify the areas you'd like to work on and what meaningful progress would look like for you.

04 — Work Toward Change

Depending on your needs, our work may include reflection, emotional processing, skill development, new perspectives, and practicing different ways of responding.

05 — Build Something Sustainable

The goal is not simply to feel better temporarily, but to develop greater understanding and skills that you can carry into your relationships and everyday life.

Is Counselling Right for You?

Counselling may be a good fit if you find yourself thinking:

"I understand what I should do, but I can't seem to change the pattern."

"I keep putting everyone else's needs before my own."

"I want to understand why I react the way I do."

"I don't feel like myself anymore."

"I want healthier relationships, but I don't know where to start."

"I want to feel more confident in who I am."

"I want to heal from experiences that continue to affect me."

You don't have to wait until things become unbearable before seeking support.

Counselling can be a space for healing, understanding, and meaningful change.

Free 20-Minute Consultation

Let's see if we're a good fit.

Choosing a counsellor is a personal decision. Before committing to ongoing counselling, you may want to know more about the process and whether the relationship feels right for you.

I offer a free 20-minute consultation for prospective counselling clients.

During the consultation, you can briefly share what brings you to counselling, ask questions about working together, and get a sense of my approach.

The consultation is not a counselling session or clinical assessment. It is simply an opportunity to connect and decide whether you'd like to take the next step.

There is no pressure to continue.
